Two Solihull businesses collaborated to raise money for a fantastic cause close to many of their employees’ hearts, Macmillan Cancer Support. Xoserve along with Phoebus Software Ltd held a Macmillan Coffee Morning in the reception area of their shared Lansdowne Gate office.
As well as holding a traditional cake sale, Xoserve and PSL employees got their baking hats on to compete for the coveted title of Star Baker. Three individuals with excellent taste buds were selected to be the judges and were given the fatiguing task of sampling over 20 homemade treats. These ranged from classic Victoria sponges and chocolate brownies, to the less common but nonetheless equally tasty baklava - a Turkish delicacy, and even some homemade pork pies!
The cake sale, along with the raffle, was a huge success raising an amazing total of £653.83 which is to be matched by Xoserve. This donation will help to support those who are living with cancer, a disease that more than one in three people are estimated to develop in their lifetime.
Sam Greatrex, Regional Fundraising Manager at Macmillan, came in on the day to be head judge and decided the overall Star Bakers. Sam said ‘Xoserve are tremendous supporters of Macmillan and by hosting a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning for each of the last eleven years they have now raised over £10,000. Macmillan Cancer Support are 99% funded by donations and the hard work, support and expert baking from everyone at Xoserve over such a prolonged time has been making a huge difference to the lives of people affected by cancer.’
